Nice shot taken by Nick Kuijpers part of a set taken for Motor Revue magazine - www.motorrevue.nl The composition reminds me a bit of this 35mm film shot I took back in September..

You can see more of Nick's excellent motorcycle photography, including more shots of the above VM1T on his Flickr photostream here and his website below. Thanks for sharing Nick ; )

HOLA VESPA - accessories

I recently wrote a post on Bavarian based Hola Vespa who specialise in the maintenance, 'rusteration' and sometimes restoration of the Spanish Motovespas they import - one of a few companies working mainly, if not solely with Spanish vespas. By way of thanks, owner Bernd Kirschner sent me some stickers and this very nice key ring - perfect for carrying my '71 Motovespa GT160 keys.. muchas gracias/vielen dank Bernd ; )

If you're on the hunt for original Motovespa accessories, then give Bernd a shout at Hola Vespa who also has a great looking instagram page which you can see here - www.instagram.com/holavespa/

First Frost

Near home is a small open field which I skirt the top edge of most mornings, with our German Shepherd on the way up to neighbouring woods and fields. Situated next door to Council owned allotments, this small field has in previous years been cut back around mid-late August; which is always a bit sad as it seems to hasten summer drawing to a close. This year for some reason, the long grass remained and went un-cut, which pleased me anyway, allowing me to hang on to the thought of summer for a while longer..

Possessing a photographer's eye of sorts; I spend a fair amount of time considering how best to frame/compose what's in front of me. Anyhow, I hoped the long grass would stay until the first frost of winter so I could capture it on film, frozen and illuminated by the sun on a clear day. Such a morning arrived in mid-late November and was the perfect opportunity to shoot on 35mm film what I'd been imagining for the past few months..

Above is the field in question, taken before the sun had risen above the distant tree line, with shots below from the nearby woods and fields in Tring and Dancers End..

An 'earworm' that is often working it's way around my head, is Simon & Garfunkel's beautiful song, 'April She Will Come'  - perfectly capturing the coming of spring with it's fresh hope, before the loss of summer's end...
